There are 3 Easy Steps To Create Your Own Website.
STEP #1: Choose Your Website Platform
You need to first decide/choose the website platform you wanna use. Even before you decide what domain name and colour theme etc you will use for your website.
What is a platform in Website Design?
Back in 2009, when I used to create website, I used HTML, CSS and Java Scripts etc and other technologies. These took a lot of time to learn and were tricky to become master.
Many people still think that creating a website from scratch is difficult and requires a lot of coding and design skills – but it’s not true anymore!
“In 2016, content management systems (CMS) like WordPress have made creating a website accessible to everyone.”
In simple words, a platform, also known as a Content Management System (CMS), is where you make changes to the website you’ve created. It’s how you add new pages, create blog posts, and change the layout and colour scheme. The platform makes it easy to maintain and update your site on a regular basis.

STEP #2: Choose Your Domain & Host
To get your website up and running you basically need 2 main things : Domain & Hosting.
Any name registered in the DNS is a DOMAIN name. … In general, a domain name represents an Internet Protocol (IP) resource, such as a personal computer used to access the Internet, a server computer hosting a web site, or the web site itself or any other service communicated via the Internet.
In simple words, the web address of the website is known as Domain. e.g. Like this website domain is www.soubhagyasahoo.com
A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organisations to make their website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server owned or leased for use by clients, as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data centre. Web hosts can also provide data centre space and connectivity to the Internet for other servers located in their data centre, called colocation, also known as Housing in Latin America or France.
Now you know whats a domain and how a domain can be made live in internet using any hosting service. Lets check out how and from where we can get them?
Already have a domain name and hosting? Go ahead and skip to step 3, where I’ll explain how you can set up your website.
You can get domain at cost around as low as Rs 99 for 1 year and also you can go for basic hosting plan which will cost you around Rs 100 per month. There are lot many service providers for Domain & Hosting.
Other companies include:
- And many, many others.
When you get a domain name (and hosting), you’ll also get a personal email account(s) i.e. You@YourSite.com – for more professional email communications from your website.
Tips on Choosing Your Domain name :
- Does it show your brand? – Choose a domain which shows your brand which you will promote for your business/blogs etc. For e.g. If your company is about tech knowledge, choosing a domain like technews.com or techguru.com will help you in establishing your brand
- Is it memorable/catchy? – Choose a name which people can remember easily. It helps in creating a place in the visitors mind to just type it down whenever they feel like viewing your website.
